The Canadian Black Farmers Association is a non-profit organization affiliated with Kara-Kata Afrobeat Society of Canada. Our mission is to advocate at all levels for inclusivity and empowerment for the Black Canadian community in the Canadian agricultural industry. The Canadian Black Farmers Association Project aims to cultivate a future where Black Canadians thrive in the agricultural industry. By addressing historical injustices and current barriers, this initiative seeks to foster land ownership, fair labor practices, and access to traditional foods. Through education, mentorship, and community engagement, the project will sow seeds of equity and inclusion, nurturing a harvest of opportunity and dignity for Black farmers across Canada

Kara-Kata Africa Village

The Kara-Kata Africa Village Project (KAVP) is designed to return the Black community to our roots of farming by inspiring new and settled people to take up farming as a sustainable economic opportunity, as well as being able to grow and sell culturally appropriate foods for our community’s health and well being. To eat the foods we are accustomed to. “Lets grow what we eat, and eat what we grow”. This is the only project of its kind supporting and led by the Black community in this way.
